Ted Walsh ’72 Creates Bequest to Say Thank You and Invest in Nichols' Future

Ted Walsh '72

For years the Walsh family has benefited from its association with Nichols School, which is why Ted Walsh ’72 has included the school in his will with the goal of ensuring that Nichols' excellence lasts far into the future.

Ted's bequest will support the Walsh Family Scholarship, a fund established through The Campaign for Nichols School that provides financial aid for successful students demonstrating financial need and who are expected to make a strong contribution to the Nichols community. The scholarship, which is also supported by Ted's entire family, has already assisted several Nichols students.

In his senior year at Nichols, Ted was part of the student leadership team that helped plan for the jump to co-educational learning the following year. As a parent of two daughters who graduated from Nichols, he has witnessed firsthand how the school has benefited from that move—becoming more diverse and improving in many other ways.

"I loved my experience [as a student]. But through the lens of a parent, I've seen the richness and breadth and what a fabulous school it is now that it is co-educational," Ted says. "It was a wonderful school before; it is a better school now."

As a trustee, Ted has seen the good work that is made possible by bequests and other planned gifts. He urges his fellow alumni to consider including Nichols in their estate plans to share the benefits of a Nichols education with future generations.

A planned gift is "a wonderful way to make an impact," Ted says. "It is a way to say thank you that will do great things for the school."
